課程概述

Globalization is an outcome and processes of growing interdependence among people, companies, and governments, manifested in mounting cross-border exchanges of goods, services, as well as investments, and free flows of people, capital, technology, and information. The past few centuries have witnessed the fast and growing trend of globalization in our modern societies, bringing forth profound and everlasting influence on human civilization and generating tremendous opportunities and challenges to individuals, companies, and governments around the world. Nevertheless, as happened before in history, public sentiment about globalization has taken a sharp turn in the past few years. It is accordingly imperative for business and public policy leaders to have a good understanding of the dynamics of global environment and their complicated impacts on individuals, companies, and governments around the globe.

課程目標
This course intends to first examine the dynamics of the global economy environment over the past centuries and to provide a better understanding of the present complexity, and then discuss how global entrepreneurs and multinational enterprises design and carry out innovative approaches for doing international businesses. For the purpose of providing general guideline in particular to international business major students, this course starts with an introduction and discussion of business management fundamentals, including R&D, operations, financial and marketing management processes and contents, as well as CSR issues and practices. In order to provide an in-depth and professional understanding of international business, several prestigious scholars and practitioners in the areas of history, international political economy and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council will be invited as guest speakers in our class.
